Our Services

Consultations

At Lakes Entrance Animal Hospital, our consultations are designed to give you and your pet the attention and care you deserve. Whether you're visiting for a routine check-up, a new health concern, or ongoing care, our experienced veterinarians take the time to listen, assess, and provide clear guidance.

During a consultation, we'll perform a thorough physical examination, discuss your pet's history, and recommend any necessary diagnostics or treatments. From preventative care to complex medical issues, we're here to support your pet's health at every life stage.

We understand that not all pets enjoy visiting the vet. That's why we offer flexible options for anxious or fearful animals, including Fear Free handling techniques and pre-visit medications to help reduce stress and make the experience more comfortable. Please contact us for more information and resources to support your pet's emotional well-being.

We believe in open communication and collaborative decision-making, so you'll always have the opportunity to ask questions and understand your options.

Appointments are essential to ensure we can dedicate time to you and your pet — book online or call us today.

Wellness Checks, Vaccinations, Titre Testing & In-House Blood Testing

Keeping your pet healthy starts with regular wellness checks. At Lakes Entrance Animal Hospital, we offer comprehensive health assessments to monitor your pet's overall wellbeing and catch any issues early — even before symptoms appear.

Wellness checks are the perfect time to discuss preventative care, nutrition, behaviour, and lifestyle. They include a full physical examination and can be tailored to suit your pet's age, breed, and health status.
As part of routine wellness care, we offer:

  • Vaccinations to protect against common and potentially serious diseases.
  • Titre testing, a simple blood test that measures your pet's existing immunity, helping determine whether vaccination is needed. This is a great option for pets with medical sensitivities or owners who prefer a more tailored vaccine schedule.
  • In-house blood testing for rapid, accurate insight into your pet's health. From general wellness screening to monitoring organ function or detecting early signs of disease, our on-site lab allows us to deliver fast results — often during the same visit.

Our goal is to help you make informed decisions about your pet's health. Whether you're keeping up with yearly checks, exploring titre testing, or looking for peace of mind with blood work, we're here to guide you every step of the way.

Our surgical offerings include:

  • Desexing (spaying and neutering) – a routine yet important procedure that supports long-term health, reduces unwanted behaviours, and helps prevent overpopulation.

Soft tissue surgeries, such as:

  • Lump and mass removals
  • Wound repair
  • Laparotomies (abdominal exploratory surgery) for both diagnostic and emergency purposes
  • Orthopaedic surgeries, addressing conditions involving bones, joints, and ligaments, including fracture repair and cruciate ligament surgery.

And more.

We use modern anaesthetic protocols, advanced monitoring equipment, and strict safety standards to ensure the highest level of care throughout every procedure. Pain management is a top priority, and we'll always walk you through pre- and post-operative care so you feel confident every step of the way.

Dentistry

Dental health is a vital part of your pet's overall wellbeing — and at Lakes Entrance Animal Hospital, we take it seriously. Our comprehensive veterinary dental services help prevent pain, infection, and disease, ensuring your pet stays healthy, happy, and comfortable.

We offer professional dental procedures for both dogs and cats, including:

  • Dental examinations and scale & polish
  • Tooth extractions when necessary
  • Treatment of dental disease, including gingivitis and periodontal conditions
  • Full-mouth dental radiology (X-rays) to assess tooth roots, bone loss, and hidden disease beneath the gumline.

Most dental issues occur where we can't see — below the surface. That's why we use digital dental X-rays. They allow us to detect problems early and help you make informed decisions about your pet's oral care.

All dental treatments are performed under general anaesthesia for your pet's safety and comfort, using modern monitoring and pain control protocols. After the procedure, we'll provide you with a personalised care plan to support healing and long-term dental health.

Bad breath, tartar buildup, or difficulty eating are just a few signs that your pet may need a dental check-up.

Radiology (X-Rays)

At Lakes Entrance Animal Hospital, radiographs — or X-rays — are a vital diagnostic tool that help us see beyond what's visible during a physical exam. They allow us to assess your pet's bones, organs, and soft tissues quickly and non-invasively.

Our digital radiography system provides high-quality images within minutes, helping us diagnose a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Fractures and bone injuries
  • Arthritis and joint issues
  • Foreign objects
  • Tumours or abnormal growths
  • Heart, lung, and abdominal organ changes
  • Dental issues (with dental-specific radiographs)

Radiographs are commonly used to guide treatment plans, monitor ongoing conditions, or rule out serious concerns. In many cases, they're the first step toward identifying the cause of pain, lameness, or illness.
If needed, we also offer sedation to ensure your pet is calm and still for clear, accurate imaging — always prioritising comfort and safety.

If your pet needs X-rays or you have concerns about their health, our team is here to help. Contact us today to learn more or book an appointment.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a gentle, non-invasive imaging tool that allows us to look inside your pet's body in real time — without the need for surgery or radiation. At Lakes Entrance Animal Hospital, we use veterinary ultrasound to help diagnose and monitor a wide range of conditions quickly and safely.

Ultrasound is especially useful for examining soft tissues and internal organs, such as:

  • Abdomen (liver, gall bladder, kidneys, bladder, intestines, spleen, adrenal glands etc.)
  • Heart (echocardiography)
  • Pregnancy monitoring
  • Masses or fluid accumulation
  • Guidance for safe, precise sample collection (e.g., biopsies or fluid taps)

This technology gives us valuable insight into your pet's health, often detecting issues that can't be seen with X-rays alone. In many cases, we can provide immediate answers, allowing us to start treatment without delay.
Most pets tolerate ultrasound well, and sedation is only occasionally needed to help them stay calm and comfortable.

If your pet needs an ultrasound or your vet has recommended one, we're here to guide you through the process with care and clarity.
